Here at PEFY, we are blessed to live and work in the Pacific Northwest. We think it’s one of the most beautiful places on Earth and we’re doing our best to keep it that way. How? We recently purchased a new Xerox ColorQube digital machine.
The Qube, as we like to call it, uses a new technology that is as interesting as it is eco-friendly. Instead of using plastic toner like most digital machines, the Qube melts blocks of colored wax (seen above) and sprays it onto the page like an inkjet. The wax toner is non-toxic and, once each block is used up, it only leaves behind a soy paper wafer. You could eat it if you wanted! Although it really isn’t all that tasty–take it from us!
The Qube reduces waste by up to 90% compared to an equivalent toner-based machine after you add up all the garbage from packaging, plastic toner cartridges, and waste toner bags that conventional machines require.
